DIY windshield repair kits can hide a pit for a week and still leave air, dirt, and a crack that runs in McAllen heat. We see them. The dye is yellow. The pit is still a pit. If the break still qualifies, we may be able to work over a clean kit. If the kit pumped dust into the star, the honest answer is replace.
What a store kit cannot do
You do not have a pressure pot, a dry bay, or a way to read the interlayer. You cannot pull vacuum on a star the way a shop bridge can. You also cannot judge camera glass. A kit on the driver’s view that looks “clear enough” can still glare at night.
If you already used a kit, say so. Bring the car. Do not pick at the resin with a knife. Do not wash the glass with solvents that swell the patch.
When to skip the kit
Edge breaks, long cracks, wet pits, and anything over a camera skip the hardware-store aisle. Comprehensive often covers a proper fill. A $15 kit that forces a $windshield is not savings.

After a kit, what we can still do
If the pit is dry and the kit resin is only on the surface, we can often drill, evacuate, and fill for a better optical result. If the kit left a yellow blob in the driver view, we may still replace. Be honest about the kit. We can see it anyway. Honesty just saves the speech.
Do not use a kit on a HUD windshield or a camera patch. Those optics are unforgiving. A $12 syringe is not cheaper than a camera that will not calibrate.
Keep the leftover syringe out of the car. They leak. They look like evidence of a worse DIY job than you did.
Dropping the car at Suite P

Pull in, bring the key, and tell us the year, make, model, and which glass failed. A daylight photo sent to 956-360-0178 before you drive over saves a wasted trip if the part is on order.
You can wait in the lobby on many shorter jobs. Replaces and regulator work take longer. Bring a charger. Pets stay with you. If a lender or dealer holds a second key, say so we can lock the car in the lot. Fleet drivers should bring the PO or unit number. We quote from what we see on this vehicle, not from a ZIP-code widget.
After the job, keep the receipt. Ask about drive-away time, the first car wash, and whether a camera light might need a return visit. Workmanship, leaks, and defects terms are on the after-your-glass-work page. That is not a free 12-month road-hazard replacement plan. A new rock hit is a new inspection.
Comprehensive coverage often pays a shop fill with little or no deductible. A kit that forces a full windshield is not savings. If you already used a syringe, say so when you call. We can often still improve a clean pit. A yellow blob in the driver view is usually new glass.
